Barullo to highlight Argentina’s ‘cutting edge’
Wines of Argentina has announced the launch of a new consumer and trade event celebrating “cutting edge” Argentina, which is set to take place in Hoxton over four days.
Named Barullo, a word used to describe somebody or something making a noise or racket, the event will be held from 25 to 28 October at JJ Studios in Hoxton with trade-only sessions during the daytime on 25 and 26 and for consumers in the evenings from 25 to 28 October.
“Wine events are ripe for disruption and that’s what we’re aiming to do this Autumn with Wines of Argentina’s new UK trade and consumer event: Barullo, a window into cutting edge Argentina”, Andrew Maidment, UK head of WofA, said of the new event.
The event aims to “immerse guests in the energy that exists within the Argentine wine scene”, positioning it as a “dynamic country, producing premium wines, who are prepared to go a step further in order to remain at the forefront of wine making and marketing.”
Designed to highlight Argentina’s cutting edge, highlights include a food collaboration with chef Mauro Colagreco of the two Michelin-starred restaurant Mirazur restaurant, recently voted World’s 6th Best Restaurant.
The event will also feature art by some of Argentina’s top modern art galleries and visual artists, alongside live music provided by top Argentine musicians
Trade activities, running on the 25th from 10 to 5pm and on 26th from 10-3pm, will include a tasting zone dedicated to themes that “define Argentina’s cutting edge wine scene” and four food stations run by Mauro Colagreco’s 2* Michelin Mirazur. An on-trade focus day will run on the 25th, a group of visitors that Maidment said had been “notoriously hard” for it to attract.
The consumer portion of the event will take place in the evenings from 6.30pm until 11pm over all four days. Highlights include a Mauro Colagreco pop-up restaurant serving Argentine classics over four courses, sommelier led tasting bars, music and art.
“Our aim with Barullo is to create a must attend event and not a ‘me too’ trade tasting”, said Maidment. “We’re going to immerse our guests in Argentina’s cutting edge wine scene and contemporary culture. It’s about more than just presenting wines, it’s about bringing to life what modern Argentina stands for, exciting the trade with the developments taking place and inspiring them with ways in which they can successfully market and sell their Argentine wine range.”
Tickets will go on sale in two weeks and this will be available via Eventbrite. For more information email amaidment@winesofargentina.com
