Wine Car Boot to pop-up in Greenwich
Popular peripatetic wine fair Wine Car Boot is to pop up for a fourth year, this time at Greenwich Peninsula in east London on Saturday 17 September.
Ruth Spivey
Run by former fashion model Ruth Spivey, among the 20 independent wine merchants showing their wares will be Berry Bros. & Rudd, Vinoteca, Corney & Barrow, The Wine Butler, Noble Rot, Swig, Red Squirrel and Winemakers Club.
Street food comes courtesy of Craft London Pizza & Smokehouse, nose-to-tail restaurant St John, cheese specialist Androuet and hotdog flogger bubbledogs, while Noble Rot will be selling oysters.
New for this year, entry will be free and non-ticketed, with magazines, food and beer all on sale in addition to wine.
Attendees can enjoy cheese and wine flights and take part in a bottle tombola. This event takes place from 12-8pm at Peninsula Garden close to the O2 arena.
Wine Car Boot was launched by Spivey in August 2013 with the inaugural fair taking place at Netil Market in Hackney.
The second event took place in Old Spitalfields market, while last year’s fair moved the action to King’s Cross.
“I wanted to create a tasting that was different to anything else out there, something fun and accessible for the public, where wine is mixed with street food and music,” Spivey told db when launching the event.
“My mission is to get people out of the supermarket by giving them access to quirky and interesting wines they might not usually try,” she added.
