New president for Crus Bourgeois du Médoc
Olivier Cuvelier has been named as the new president of the Alliance des Crus Bourgeois du Médoc, following the death of its former president Frédéric de Luze.
Luze died at the age of 54 in July following a long illness, the organisation announced last week. Today it confirmed that Olivier Cuvelier, who had been serving as the organisation’s vice-president since 2004, as his successor.
Cuvelier, whose family owns Château Le Crock, was elected President of the Alliance of the Crus Bourgeois du Médoc by the Board of Director on 18 July. His father, Max Cuvelier, was one of the four founding members of the Union of the Crus Bourgeois du Médoc in 1962.
Among other tasks, he will be continuing Luze’s work and finalising the project for a new classification of the Crus Bourgeois du Médoc.
The new classification will allow producers to hold the title of a Crus Bourgeois for five years, creating a hierarchy of producers within the region.
