Meiburg to host ‘Brunello Experience’ across Asia
Starting from the end of the month, Debra Meiburg MW will offer guided tasting trade seminars in four Asian cities which will champion Italy’s beloved Brunello.
Meiburg’s wine tour starts in Seoul, South Korea and ends up in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and will introduce the F&B and wine trade to Brunello di Montalcino, its diversity of terroir and distinctive micro-climates.
Selected by the Consorzio Vino Brunello Montalcino, the wine brands featured include the breadth of Montalcino’s producers: Banfi, Bottega, Campogiovanni, Capanna, Casisano Tommasi Family Estate, Castello Romitorio, Col d’Orci, Fossacolle, Le Macioche, Poggio di Sotto, San Polo and Villa Poggio Salvi and feature the key vintages of 2010 and 2011.
The scheduled dates are:
29 August, Ritz Carlton Seoul
30 August, Grand Hyatt Taipei
31 August, Fullerton Hotel Singapore
1 September, Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur
The year 2010 for Brunello di Montalcino is often seen as a ‘near perfect’ vintage; being neither too hot or wet over the summer, and cool nights giving fresh high acidity. Harvests were on average two weeks later which favoured the late ripening Sangiovese.
The 2011 vintage by contrast has produced wines with more variability, due to an unseasonably cool beginning to the summer and then a dramatic heat spike in mid-August.
The seminars are open to all in the F&B and wine trade with media places available in addition.
