Hooters opens in Hong Kong
Renowned for its ‘hot wings’, American sports bar chain, Hooters has finally nestled in the bosom of Hong Kong’s rowdy Wyndham Street.
Hong Kong’s first Hooters restaurant spans two floors, has 23 televisions and offers 12 different flavours of its famous hot wings in order to entice Hong Kong’s punters through the door.
Run by general manager, Mike Warde who is well versed in Hong Kong’s raucous F&B scene having worked in Joe Bananas, Dog House and Shamrocks in Wan Chai, Hooters also has a plethora of attractive, scantily clad waitresses in white vests and orange hot pants who will do choreographed dancing every 45 minutes.
There’s also an extensive wine list and cocktail list and even a private room upstairs for “rugby boys” – whoever and whatever this means.
Keeping us abreast of the latest developments, Warde has also disclosed that there will be two other Hooters restaurants opening in Hong Kong soon with one likely to be in Tsim Sha Tsui.
Last year Hooters announced a big expansion into Southeast Asia with up to 30 outlets opening over the next six years.
The first Hooters restaurant opened in Florida in 1983 and the company began franchising in 1986. It became known as a “breastaurant” – a dining venue where scantily clad women serve as waitresses.
Judging by a recent visit to Hooters for its soft launch, dbHK can confirm that the concept seemed very well received by guests – both male and female.
