Gotta catch ‘em all: HK’s Pokemon cocktails

Sadly showing absolutely no sign of abating: the Pokemon Go craze has popped up in Hong Kong’s bars and hotels with various special Pokemon-themed cocktails currently on offer.

Please make it stop

The Woods

One of Hong Kong’s favourite bars and now apparently a PokeStop, The Woods has wisely got in on the act and has launched a series of cocktails named after the (un)loveable Pokemon characters.

Pokemon fanatics can take advantage of the wifi and USB wall sockets as they embark on a hunting spree while slurping on a Bulbasaur Basil Daiquiri, Squirtle Tom Collins or Charmander Pineapple Verdita, all priced at HK$88.

Rumour has it that The Woods may even set off some ‘lures’ so stampede your way now.

WooBar, The W Hotel

Hong Kong’s trendy Kowloon hotel, mostly known for its raucous pool parties has designed a whole new cocktail menu dedicated to Pokemon and has won bargain hunting players’ hearts by offering two drinks for the price of one.

It comes not without a bit of effort however, as players are required to screengrab the Pokemon caught at the bar, upload to social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or Weibo), check into the W Hotel Hong Kong and upload the picture complete with the hashtags #whongkong #woobarhk #pokemongo – from Mondays to Fridays, 5pm until midnight.

Ovolo Southside

Surely the prize for most effort spent by a hotel in attracting Pokemon players goes to Ovolo Southside, which is offering a six-week Pokemon-themed adventure for those who clearly have more time than the rest of us.

Setting up ‘lures’ every day from 2-10pm and installing special charging zones (complete with two metre long smartphone cables) Ovolo Hotel in Wong Chuk Hang has also created five Pokemon-themed cocktails.

15 Pokemon caught also equals 30% off drinks and 15% dining at the Cirqle restaurant.
