Argento sponsors London’s Argentine Film Festival
Argentine wine estate Bodega Argento is to be the main sponsor of the fifth Argentine Film Festival, which takes place in London this month.
The London Argentine Film Festival opens with noir thriller The Clan on 18 August
Marking the third year in succession that Mendoza producer Bodega Argento has linked up with the festival, the sponsorship will see the winery’s Esquinas de Argento Malbec served at screenings of this year’s line-up of critically acclaimed Argentine films at Picturehouse cinemas across the capital.
The Argentine Film Festival runs from 18 August at Curzon Soho, Curzon Bloomsbury, Picture House Central and the Ritzy Cinema in London.
The opening night of the festival will see the premiere of Pablo Trapero’s The Clan on Thursday 18 August at Curzon Soho. Prior to the screening a private reception at the Argentine Ambassador’s residence will see Bodega Argento’s wider range, including Argento Seleccion Chardonnay, Argento Malbec Rosé and Esquinas de Argento Malbec, served to guests.
The Argentine Film Festival will also feature films such as ‘buddy’ comedy-drama Truman, starring Ricardo Darín and Javier Cámara, and Ariel Rotter comedy My Friend from The Dark, which receives its UK premiere.
“The Esquinas de Argento Malbec encapsulates Buenos Aires contemporary urban life – each one of the Esquinas de Argento wine bottle labels depicts parts of the city where colour, movement, sound and people give the town its captivating vitality,” Bodega Argento head winemaker Silvia Corti said.
“This wine is filled with energy, rich fruit and aromas of red cherry, ripe plum, blackberry and truffle. We are looking forward to showcasing the Malbec at the film festival in the UK this summer and to bringing a little corner of Argentinian life to London.”
“It gives us great pleasure to continue as the main sponsor of London’s Argentine Film Festival,” said Gustavo Crespo, the UK managing director of Bodega Argento owner Blends Wine Estates.
“The partnership provides us with an excellent opportunity to present Bodega Argento wines to a wonderful audience of culture seeking Londoners. It also supports Bodega Argento’s objective of bringing the real Argentine lifestyle to the UK – on this occasion at one of the capital’s most prestigious film festivals.”
During the festival, ticket holders to the Picturehouse screenings will have the opportunity to take advantage of Bodega Argento’s special festival promotion offering a free second glass of wine in addition to 10% off at its partner restaurant, La Patagonia, in Camden.
