After an enforced break, we’re back highlighting the top 10 wines in the US press with zingy Italian whites taking the spotlight.

Young, ephemeral and ready to drink immediately, Eric Asimov of the New York Times is on a Rosé fix this week and we’ve selected the Bandol as the standout choice. At precisely the right shade of pink and just the right fruit aromas, with maybe a little sweetness for the soft-drink lovers, Asimov is keen to point out just how good this wine is for the summer.

2014 Colle Stefano Verdicchio di Matelica

Patrick Chomisky tells the Los Angeles Times that the Verdicchio is a fragrant, generous white variety grown in the Marche, in central Italy, where it makes a wine of irresistible charm and vibrancy. With a slight lemony zest on the nose, the head more towards tangerine and minerals.

Château La Gordonne Rosé 2015

Pale pink and crisp, with zingy raspberry and melon flavors, this Provençal rosé managed to capture the ripeness of the 2015 vintage while retaining the refreshing acidity we expect from rosé, Dave McIntyre tells the Washington Post.

Francis Ford Coppola has been a wine producer in the Napa Valley since 1975 and the San Francisco Chronicle has highlighted The Claret as the stand out offering. Blended in the standard Bordeaux style, there flavours of blackberry, cassis and roasted espresso.

Red fruit with delicate herbaecous notes with a wide range of aromas including sour cherry, red prune and thyme followed by flint. The flavour of this wine is defined by its balance of delicacy, report Armit Wines.

Telero Bianco (Bombino) 2015, Cantele

Notes of lily, magnolia, juniper, and linden, followed by ripe fruit and seductive herbaceous aromas.
