Penfolds re-corking clinic turns 25
The Penfolds re-corking clinic will be on the road again this autumn visiting the UK, US and Canada as the service enters its 25th year.
The pop-up London clinic will take place on Friday 30 September at Haberdashers’ Hall in the City.
As usual, chief winemaker, Peter Gago, and his team will be on hand to help assess, certify and top-up bottles as well as inform collectors on drinking windows and cellaring conditions.
An expert from Christie’s will also be available to give valuations and advice on opportunities when consigning at auction.
In the 25 years that Penfolds has offered its re-corking service, over 130,000 bottles of wine have been inspected by the team.
Gago said: “After 25 years, the re-corking clinics continue to amaze and evolve, transcending all our expectations. The notion that every bottle has a story continues to reign true.
“As winemakers, it is so meaningful and rewarding to meet collectors and share their personal story of their wine’s unique journey. Professionally it is gratifying to witness the ongoing quality of rare treasures that span so many decades, each one adding to the unfinished story that is Penfolds.”
Appointments are necessary and only wines of 15 years or older should be considered for inspection.
