Casella buys $12.5m McLaren Vale vineyard
Casella Family Brands has snapped up a McLaren Vale vineyard for a reported AUS$12.4 million, its first foray into the premium South Australian region.

A single landholding covering the has sold to Casella Family Brands for $12.4 million, as reported by AdelaideNow.com.
Covering 162 hectares, the purchase includes land at the Hawthorn Ridge and Reedy Creek vineyard in Adelaide’s McLaren Vale.
“By purchasing in McLaren Vale we now have significant holdings in all of the premier grape-growing regions of Australia,” John Casella, managing director of Casella Family Brands said.
“We look forward to working with the region and surrounding farmers to promote McLaren Vale.”
The vineyards purchased by Casella had been part-owned by interests associated with winemaker Paul Buttery of Gemtree Wines.
The acquisition follows Casella’s purchase of Morris Wines in Victoria on Friday after it was put up for sale by Pernod Ricard.
Casella, based in Griffith, NSW, already produces the Yellow Tail wine range and owns South Australian wine companies Peter Lehmann in the Barossa Valley and Brand’s Laira, in the Coonawarra.
