Pont des Arts new launch, drinking with Ray Walker and hobnobbing at Veuve Clicquot’s 2008 vintage party, it’s all in a week’s work for team dbHK.

Thibault Pontallier of Pont des Arts strikes a pose with Hong Kong wine writer, Marjolaine Roblette Geres at the official launch of Pont des Arts’ new wine collection created in partnership with renowned contemporary Spanish painter, Miquel Barceló.

Featuring Barceló’s striking artwork on the labels, Pont des Arts’ range includes new releases from select parcels in Vosne-Romanee aux Reas, Chambolle-Musigny, Gevrey-Chambertin, Nuits-Saint-Georges, Meursault and Saint-Émilion.

A plethora of bottles on show, as part of Angliss Hong Kong’s first portfolio tasting. The event took place in the swish new speakeasy-style bar, I Know John which takes a humorous swipe at Hong Kong’s ubiquitous ‘magic password’ bar culture.  

The American winemaker and author of The Road to Burgundy, Ray Walker and Crown Wine Cellars’ general manager, Greg De ‘Eb at a wine dinner hosted by Crown Wine Cellars which explored Walker’s wines from his winery, Maison Ilan. The tasting encompassed two bottles from Walker’s first vintage in 2009: Morey-Saint-Denis Les Chaffots and Chambertin as well as samples from the 2011, 2012 and 2013 vintages.

Walker also spoke of his extraordinary tale of falling in love with Burgundy wine and then moving his then-pregnant wife and himself across the world from the US to start Maison Ilan. It is all documented in his book, The Road to Burgundy with a a TV sequel in the pipeline. 

Bonnae Gokson, founder of Hong Kong’s rooftop hotspot, Sevva holds a glass of Veuve Clicquot’s 2008 vintage which was recently launched in Hong Kong, under the watchful eye of Dominique Demarville, Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin’s chef de caves.

Ben Howkins, director of The Last Drop Distillers and co-founder of Royal Tokaji relaxes with a group of ‘Ladies who Tea’, at the Waldorf Astoria in Shanghai where alongside traditional afternoon tea delights, Royal Tokaji’s Blue Label 5 Puttonyos 2008 and Essencia 2007 were served.

Hong Kong’s premium wine importers, Ginsberg+Chan hosted a decadent Jura tasting, featuring the wines of Jean Francois Genavat in its weekly Wine Wednesdays event. 

Never a bad way to kick off a Friday night, 2004 Dom Pérignon was on pour at an art and wine preview exhibition at Sotheby’s.
