Bordeaux 2015: and now LLC
Léoville Las Cases has thrown its hat into the ring this morning with a hefty 43% increase on last year’s en primeur price.
The St Julien ‘super second’ increased the price of its 2015 wine to €138 per bottle ex-négociant.
Scores are consistent, with 95-97 from Neal Martin, 96-97 from James Suckling, 94-97 from James Molesworth and 17.5 from Chris Kissack and Jancis Robinson MW; Tim Atkin MW rated it lowest on 94.
The 2006 and 2014 with comparable scores are between 25-40% cheaper.
Léoville’s asking price is rather above the estimates of Liv-ex’s members who predicted a price of €112 p/b – or just 17% the price of the 2014.
Then again, as Liv-ex pointed out on its blog, as the campaign has progressed early predictions have becoming increasingly out of step with the reality of the situation.
Margaux, Pichon Comtesse, Montrose, Angélus and Pavie are the big names to have released this week.
