Bonhams extends July sale
UK auction house Bonhams has extended its up-coming July sale to meet a rising demand of consignments.
The sale on 14 July was already set to feature the Madeira collection of Patrick Grubb MW and will now include a large array of fine Burgundies including a full case of 1988 Romanée-Conti and – on the second day – various wines from Armand Rousseau, Domaine Roulot and Ravaneau.
Three lots each of Margaux 2009, Lafite 2010 and Cheval Blanc 2010 will also go under the hammer.
Richard Harvey MW, the head of Bonhams’ Wine Department, commented: “We’ve seen a definite growth in demand during the first half of 2016. There is a renewed appetite to buy and that has given sellers the confidence to consign.
“This trend has been particularly marked in the traditional markets of Burgundy – in our last sale we sold a case of Domaine Romanée Conti 1988 for £111,625 – and Bordeaux, which is experiencing a renaissance at auction.”
