Yalumba sponsors Womad festival

Australian winery Yalumba has announced it is to sponsor world music festival Womad UK this July.

Revellers enjoy the sunshine at WOMAD festival 2014, in Wiltshire.

The estate will sponsor the festival’s ‘Taste the World’ stage, an area where musicians not only perform but also prepare food from their home countries.

Festival-goers will be able to sample a range of Yalumba wines both with the food cooked up by the musicians at the ‘Taste the World’ stage and at the bars located across the site.

Furthermore, Yalumba will offer a range of tasting sessions and talks given by brand ambassadors.

Like all wines at Yalumba, the wines available to buy and taste at the festival are 100% vegan and vegetarian friendly and produced sustainably. Two wines will also be from its Organic range.

It is not the first time the two have collaborated together, Yalumba having previously sponsored the Womad festival in Adelaide.

Global festival director for Womad, Chris Smith, said: “We’ve had great success teaming up with Yalumba at WomADELAIDE and we were keen to replicate that at Womad UK.

“Their philosophy and practices are completely at one with Womad’s ethos and we’re excited to unite with such a like-minded company to offer the very best wine to our festival goers.”

Simon Thorpe MW, managing director of Yalumba distributor Negociants UK, said: “Wine aficionados are increasingly looking for fascinating and diverse cultural settings in which to enjoy their favourite tipple, and Womad provides us with the perfect environment for Yalumba’s award-winning wines.

“In particular the association with the Taste the World stage, one of the country’s most unique culinary experiences, is very exciting.”

Womad UK will be taking place at Charlton Park in Wiltshire from 28-31 July.
