Upcoming Zachys Asia auction ‘biggest ever’
Zachys’ second Hong Kong auction of 2016 offers top notch spirits and the fourth instalment from its prestigious Chairman’s Collection.
An exciting array of 2000 Petrus
Deemed by Zachys to be its “biggest ever Asian sale”, the upcoming Fine and Rare Wines and Whiskies auction contains over 1,400 lots from private collections with estimates totalling HK$57.9 million – HK$85.5 million (US$7.4 million – US$10.9 million).
Dominating the auction will be Zachys’ fourth tranche from the Chairman’s Collection that was introduced last year and features key vintages of Lafite Rothschild, Mouton Rothschild, Pétrus and Ausone.
Elsewhere there are offerings from another private collection which include the “must-have” 2000 vintages of Lafite, Cheval Blanc, Margaux and Pétrus as well as 2005 Chateau Latour, Cheval Blanc, Margaux and Mouton Rothschild.
Burgundy also gets a look in with 2005 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti and an original wooden case of 1976 Maison Leroy Clos Vougeot. Other Burgundian gems include Leroy, d’Auvenay, Armand Rousseau and Domaine Leflaive and lovers of Champagne will not be disappointed with Bollinger, Dom Perignon, Krug appearing on Saturday’s auction.
“Top notch” spirits include the rarely seen Macallan “M” and drams from the now-closed distilleries Port Ellen, and Brora as well as a unique Karuizawa “The Dragon” 52 Year Old Cask 1960 – one of only 41 in the world.
Finally, Zachys will end the auction on a high note with world-class Super Tuscan, Ornellaia, flagship cuvee Unico from Vega Sicilia and an impressive showing of California classic, Screaming Eagle.
The auction will be held on Friday, 27 May at the Mandarin Oriental and Saturday, 28 May at LUPA by Mario Batali in Central.
