Moët launches Ice Imperial Rosé Champagne

Moët & Chandon has launched its Moët Ice Impérial Rosé NV, which is believed to be the first rosé Champagne produced with the intention of being served over ice.

Moët’s Ice Imperial Rosé NV is the first rosé Champagne produced with the intention of being served over ice, joining Moët’s Ice Imperial Blanc

Described by the Champagne house as “fresh and vibrant when served over ice and sure to be the drink of the summer season”, this expression has been created as a partner to its Ice Impérial Blanc NV, which was launched in 2011.

Blended by Moët’s Chef de Cave Benoît Gouez, Ice Imperial Rosé NV comprises a blend of 45 to 55% Pinot Noir, of which 10% is red wine, 35 to 45% of Meunier, of which 10% is red wine, and 5 to 10% Chardonnay. Around 20 to 30% of this blend is made up of selected reserve wines.

Explaining his approach with regard to assembling the blend, Gouez said he selected each wine “specifically for what they bring to the party”.

Gouez described its Pinot Noir as “angular and vinous”, which he chose for both the “intensity of the fruit and structural integration of the dosage”. Meunier brings “richness and middle notes of harmony and suppleness”, while with the addition of 5 to 10% of Chardonnay Gouez said he was looking for “a polished acidity and refreshing finish”. The use of selected reserve wines seeks to “round out the assemblage by enhancing its intensity, richness and consistency”, said Gouez.

Its dosage is 38g/l, which Gouez said not only gives the wine its structure and personality but also “helps create and maintain the Champagne’s perfect balance when it meets the ice cubes”.

“Ice Impérial Rosé consciously bends the ‘traditional’ rules of Champagne service and brings a completely innovative Champagne experience – something that is very much at the heart of our Now Campaign,” said marketing director Arnaud de Sagines.

“Each of our cuvées has been created for a different moment, and now people can drink our Rosé Champagne ‘on the rocks’ in summer with the confidence that they are enjoying the true taste and experience of Moët & Chandon.”

Moët & Chandon’s Ice Impérial Rosé is available to the UK on-trade, and is now available to purchase via moet.com with an RRP of £59.99, as well as selected retail accounts in the UK (including Selfridges).
