Christie’s to host 250th anniversary ‘super sale’
In celebration of Christie’s 250 year anniversary and 30 years in Hong Kong, Christie’s will host a bumper May auction in aid of the French Red Cross.
Bidders can have the rare chance of owning Bruno Borie’s First Decade Vertical Vintage Collection ranging from 2003 to 2012
Christie’s sale in Hong Kong on Friday, 27 May will feature wines direct from the cellars of 84 of the world’s great estates, including several unique lots released from Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, Château Latour, Château Margaux and Château Lafite Rothschild.
This sale will also offer lucky bidders the chance to experience rare private tastings cellar tours with the estate’s family members or winemakers, lunches, dinners and overnight stays.
Simon Tam, head of wine Asia, said: “Following the tragic Paris terrorist attacks of November 2015, Christie’s and the Great Estates have come together in a bid to raise funds in benefit of the French Red Cross.
“We are delighted to be presenting this one of a kind, legendary sale to collectors and connoisseurs around the world, who seek the finest and rarest wines and once in a lifetime unique experiences, all for a good cause.”
Particular auction highlights are:
– Three Château Mouton Rothschild magnums in 1989, 1999 and 2009 vintages in their original wooden cases. The lot also includes the opportunity to visit the Château where a private lunch will be held as well as a tasting with a member of Château Mouton Rothschild’s technical team and is estimated at HK$160,000 – 300,000 (US$20,600 – 38,600)
– A vertical collection of Château Ducru-Beaucaillou from 2003-2012 which represents the first 10 vintages of Bruno Borie as head of Ducru Beaucaillou, estimated at HK$100,000 – 200,000 (US$12,800 – 25,700)
– An extremely rare bottle of La Romanée 1865 from Bouchard Père et Fils as well as the chance for two people to visit the cellars at Château Du Beaune with a tasting and lunch included, estimated at HK$100,000 – 150,000 (US$12,800 – 19,300)
– A Harlan Estate 1990-2007 vertical collection which includes a tour of the estate and tasting experience, estimated at HK$200,000 – 400,000 (US$25,700 – 51,500)
– A Masseto library release that comprises one bottle each of vintages 2006-2011 and a visit to the estate, tour of the winery and vineyards and a lunch tasting, estimated at HK$30,000 – 80,000 (US$ 3,800 – 10,300)
– A mixed collection of Vega Sicilia Unico with one bottle each of the historic vintages of 1922, 1942, 1953, 1964, 1974 and 1982 as well as the rare chance to visit the estate which is usually not possible, estimated at HK$100,000 – 200,000 (US$12,800 – 25,700)
Christie’s May auction will take place on Friday, 27 May at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre following the conclusion of this year’s Vinexpo.
