Hooper has run the renowned winery in Mount Benson alongside her husband, Derek since 1993 and converted the 25 hectare estate into being certified biodynamic in 2008.
She commented that she combines her passion for winemaking with love of conservation, sustainability and surfing and despite her recent accolade, she will remain humble.
“It’s nice to do well, but for me it’s just as much about approaching things with gusto and giving everything my absolute best shot, without worrying too much about failure nor looking back with regrets.
“There is a great deal of very clever women in Australia – not only my industry – and I’m very proud and a little humbled to even be thought of in the same class as them.
I’m lucky to be surrounded by great women and a team of very hard working male and female colleagues some of whom have come to Cape Jaffa from far and wide. Having access to that kind of global knowledge is a blessing not lost on me.”
