New labels for Smith Haut Lafitte 2015
Pessac-Léognan estate, Smith Haut Lafitte has unveiled limited edition labels for the 2015 vintage to celebrate its 650th anniversary.
Both the château’s 2015 white and red grand vin will bear a special black label to mark the 25th anniversary of the ownership of the Cathiard family and the estate’s founding in 1365.
The Bosq family began growing grapes where Smith Haut Lafitte now stands in the mid-fourteenth century.
Its purchase by Scotsman George Smith in the 18th century gave the estate its modern name and after changing hands a couple of times in the 19th and 20th centuries it was finally bought by its current owners, Daniel and Florence Cathiard in 1990.
The classic packaging will return for the 2016s.
