Neil Cowey, wine storage figure, dies
Neil Cowey, the operations director at leading UK wine storage firm London City Bond, has died suddenly at the age of just 54.
LCB’s “Olympus” warehouse
Mr Cowey died at home on Saturday 23 April, leaving his wife and two children.
He was a leading figure at LCB, not only as operations director across the whole company but as a director of its state-of-the-art Vinotheque fine wine storage facility.
Leading a tribute, LCB managing director Alf Allington sent an email to staff announcing the news.
He said: “It is with great sadness that I must inform of the sudden death on Saturday of a colleague and friend Neil Cowey.
“Neil has been a tremendous help to the company and me personally in helping drive the company forward since he started with ourselves in 2008.
“Our thoughts are with Neil’s wife and two children at this very sad time and I know he will be sadly missed by ourselves at LCB.”
Update: A previous version of this story said Mr Cowey was the sole director of Vinotheque. He was in fact one of several directors of the facility. The story has been amended to clarify this, and we apologise for the error.
