David Shoemaker joins TWE as brand ambassador

Former Shangri-La sommelier, David Shoemaker has joined Treasury Wine Estates as brand ambassador for its American wine portfolio.

Based in Shanghai, Shoemaker will look after TWE’s American wine brands which include Beringer, Sterling, Stags’ Leap, Beaulieu Vineyards, Chateau St. Jean and Etude. His remit will cover the North Asia region of Greater China, Japan and South Korea.

Named by the drinks business HK as one of the Top Ten Sommeliers in China, Shoemaker was most recently the sommelier and beverage director for the Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts in Shanghai and spent more than 19 years managing the F&B operations at the Talk of The Town Restaurant group in Florida.

Shoemaker holds the Advanced Sommelier certificate and International Sommelier Guild Level 2, is a certified Spanish Wine Educator and is also enrolled in the Master Sommelier program.

“As an American and lover of California wines, it is truly my pleasure and an honour to be brand ambassador for such an incredible portfolio of American brands,” he said.

“With the growing appetite for quality, imported wines as part of the modern Chinese lifestyle, the TWE portfolio of American brands are well positioned to establish themselves as the wines of choice for Chinese consumers.

“There are rich histories and fascinating stories for each of the TWE American brands like Beringer and Sterling. I look forward to sharing many amazing American wines with Chinese wine lovers in the coming time.”
