Cliff Richard’s Algarve winery up for sale
The Algarve winery owned by Sir Cliff Richard has been put on the market for £7.5 million, the singer has announced.
Sir Cliff Richard’s Adega do Cantor winery has produced the singer’s Vida Nova wine range since the late 1990s
Richard, 75, said that he believed it was time to give up his Quinta do Miradouro property and neighbouring Adega do Cantor winery in Albufeira, where he has had a second home for almost 15 years.
Adega do Cantor has produced Richard’s Vida Nova wines since the late 1990s, with the singer occasionally helping to pick and crush the grapes to make the wine, according to the Daily Mail.
Richard said that owning the winery had been a “truly exhilarating and rewarding experience”.
The move to sell the property comes as Richard awaits the outcome of a police investigation into sexual abuse allegations against him – allegations which he strongly denies.
Richard’s Berkshire home was raided by South Yorkshire Police in 2014. The case has yet to presented to the Crown Prosecution Service, with police reportedly still gathering evidence.
The winery estate has been put on the market by Richard’s friends and neighbours Nigel and Lesley Birch, who are also his business partners in the venture, according to the Mail.
The £7.5m sale included three villas with swimming pools and a tennis court.
“It has been hard work, but we are immensely proud of what has been achieved here,” Richard said.
“However, reluctant as we are, my business partner and I believe it is time to slow down the treadmill, and hand over the ‘dream’ to someone who can dedicate more time to this wonderful venture.”
What a scandal that PC Plod is still leaving Cliff Richard hanging out to dry with no sign of any evidence two years after their self publicised raid on his property.
S**t or get off the pot, perhaps?
