The new range will only be on-sale from 3 March until the end of Spring as part of Lidl’s ‘Wine Cellar’ promotion.
Saying that he expects the new range to sell well, Ben Hulme, Lidl Group head of wine, said: “The ambition of our Wine Cellar promotion is to offer something a little different for our customers, and challenge their expectations.”
The range of English wines, all from producer Broadwood’s Folly in Surrey, includes a sparkling brut, a white and rosé. The English Sparkling White Brut – made with Reichensteiner, Pinot Noir & Chardonnay is priced at £14.99 and “has baked apple aromas and an intensity of flavour that comes from a little bottle age”, according to the supermarket.
The English White is made with Reichensteiner, Pinot Blanc and Chardonnay and the Rosé with Dornfelder, Rondo, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc. Both priced at £7.99.
The Hungarian range includes Château Dereszla Tokaji Furmint (£5.99), Sir-Irsai (£5.99) and Polgár Therápia Villányi Cuvée (£6.99).
