HK secures nine spots in Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants Awards
Currently at number four, the Landmark Mandarin Oriental’s Amber has also reclaimed the title of Best Restaurant in China at yesterday’s awards ceremony in Bangkok.

Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants, sponsored by S.Pellegrino & Acqua Panna, revealed the 2016 list at an awards ceremony at the W Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand which represented 13 countries from across the Asia region.
Gaggan in Bangkok, run by chef Gaggon Anand has claimed the number one spot for two years running, while modern French restaurant, Florilège in Tokyo was dubbed “the one to watch.”
Hong Kong saw nine of its eateries placed on the list, including including Lung King Heen at number 10, 81⁄2 Otto e Mezzo Bombana at number 13, The Chairman at number 27, Tenku RyuGin at number 33 and Fook Lam Moon at number 34 while Ta Vie restaurant at The Pottinger in Central debuted on the list at number 48.
Richard Ekkebus’ two-Michelin starred Amber at the Landmark Mandarin Oriental currently sits at number 4 but won the Best Restaurant in China award which is granted to establishments in China and Hong Kong, reclaiming the title from “immersive” restaurant, Ultraviolet in Shanghai.
Other winners included Margarita Forés from the Philippines who was named Asia’s Best Female Chef 2016 and David Thompson of Nahm in Bangkok and Long Chim in Singapore as this year’s recipient of The Diners Club Lifetime Achievement Award.
