HDH announces annual Burgundy celebration
Hart Davis Hart has revealed the line-up for its annual ‘Celebration of Burgundy’ sale to be held this April, which it says will be the “largest ever”.
The auction will take place in Chicago from 1-2 April and is expected to fetch between US$3.8-$5.7 million – last year’s sale made just over $4m.
Over 150 domaines will be represented, covering the vintages 1961-2014. Evidently the sale includes an extensive array of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti – 268 lots in total and from 36 vintages between 1964 and 2012 – as well as Armand Rousseau, Leflaive and Leroy.
As with Zachys’ recent successful Burgundy sale in San Francisco, the HDH sale will feature an ex-cellar consignment from Domaine Fourrier, with winemaker Jean-Marie Fourrier joining the sale to host a special dinner for a few lucky collectors.
Some highlights of the sale include:
- Nine bottles of 1978 Chambertin, Clos de Bèze, Joseph Drouhin ($8,000-12,000)
- Twelve bottles of 1995 Romanée-St-Vivant, Domaine Leroy ($12,000-18,000)
- Six bottles of 1996 Montrachet, DRC ($19,000-$28,000)
- Twelve bottles of 1993 Musigny, Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier ($15,000-$22,000)
- Three magnums of 2010 Gevrey-Chambertin, Clos St.-Jacques, Cuvée Centenaire, Domaine Fourrier ($8,500-13,000)
- One Salmanazar of 2013 Chambertin, Clos de Bèze, Vieilles Vignes, Jean-Marie Fourrier ($15,000-$22,000)
- One Salmanazar of 1986 Montrachet, Domaine Ramonet ($24,000-35,000)
