Gruppo Campari celebrates first anniversary in UK

This week marked the first anniversary of the direct distribution of the Gruppo Campari portfolio in the UK.

Formerly the group had used local distributors but following the acquisition of rum business, J. Wray & Nephew in 2012, it began to achieve enough critical mass to start direct trading.

On 1 March 2015 it began its own in-market business and in January of this year the group adopted a new trading name, Campari UK, bringing the UK business in-line with Campari’s other global subsidies.

Pietro Mattioni, managing director of Campari UK, stated: “Driven by our core values of passion, integrity, performance orientation and pragmatism, we aim to build, in the medium term, the most advocated range of premium spirit brands in the UK market”.

Nick Williamson, marketing director added: “We’ve started a fantastic and exciting journey building our unique, premium brands. Our range of incomparable Italian aperitifs and bitters, Jamaican rums and American Bourbon, are the perfect fit for the sophisticated British palate, and we are excited to see the renaissance of classic cocktails in this market”.
