Barefoot Wine adds Malbec and Chardonnay
The Barefoot wine brand owned by US-based producer E&J Gallo has added Malbec and Chardonnay varieties to its UK range.
The Californian brand, which is among the UK’s top revenue wine labels – is hoping to tack on to the growing popularity of the two grape varieties in the UK.
Barefoot Malbec and Barefoot Chardonnay will be priority labels for US-based brand owner E&J Gallo this year, receiving “priority pour” in this year’s sampling campaign, the company said.
The £6.99 bottles have already gone on-sale in convenience stores across the UK, with a supermarket launch planned later this year.
Olga Senkina, marketing director at Barefoot Wine & Bubbly, said: “We are delighted to welcome Malbec and Chardonnay to our Barefoot Wine Foot Family: we know we have winning varietal wines that are fun, flavourful and affordable.
“We believe that the strength of the Barefoot brand can re-energise that stagnant Chardonnay category, whilst our Malbec offers a point of difference to a varietal category which is in strong growth.”
I’ve had both of them and they are dreadful.
