Singapore to host first craft beer event
Craft Singapore, the city’s first craft beer event, debuts next month with the aim of introducing Singapore’s beer drinkers to new flavours and styles.
Singapore-based Archipelago Brewery will be on offer throughout Craft Singapore
“There are a lot of more variety and different flavours in a craft beer compared to beers from main brands,” said the festival’s director, Charles Guerrier, who has also organised the Singapore Craft Beer Week that will take place in August.
“We want to show people that craft beers aren’t niche products, craft beers are for everybody.
“Over the past few years, I’ve seen that Singapore is falling in love with craft beer. There are more flavours coming out in the market and the market is growing with more distributors.”
Taking place at Marina Bay from 4-6 March, the festival will shine a spotlight on Singapore’s own offerings, including Little Island Brewing Co, Archipelago Brewery and Paulaner Brauhaus as well as international craft beers others from the UK and California, inclufing Brewdog, Fourpure, St Austell, Lost Coast and Modern Times.
Archipelago Brewery’s head brewer Robert Beck said their highlight at the festival would be their new Singapore Blonde Ale, which has pandan fruit flavours infused into it.
“It’s something we’ve worked on because we find that some of the beers here due to the heat aren’t quite drinkable in large quantities, so we wanted to brew a beer that you can quaff loads of,” he said
I currently work for a great craft beer company in Toronto Canada and will be moving to Singapore in August.
