Deutz teams up with Garsington Opera
Champagne Deutz is to be the official Champagne partner for the 2016 season of the Garsington Opera in Buckinghamshire.
Garsington Opera plays host to a programme of three operas each year at the Wormsley Estate
The partnership will make Champagne Deutz the exclusive Champagne served on-site at the Champagne Bar and Long Room Restaurant at the Garsington Opera. Cuvées on offer will be Deutz Brut Classic, Brut Rosé, Blanc de Blancs 2009 and the house’s flagship Cuvée William Deutz 2000.
“This is a perfect partnership for Champagne Deutz, an elegant Champagne with a long and distinguished history, served in some of the world’s most prestigious restaurants and revered by the most discerning customers,” said Richard Witter, UK brand manager for Champagne Deutz.
“We are delighted to be offering Champagne Deutz in such a beautiful setting this year.”
Garsington Opera was founded in 1989 by the late Leonard Ingrams and his wife Rosalind at Garsington Manor, near Oxford. Following Ingram’s death, Garsington Opera moved to the Wormsley Estate, home of the Getty family, in 2011.

The festival presents a programme of three operas each year during June and July, often including a Mozart opera, and also champions less-known works. In recent years the event has hosted a number of notable British premieres, including Haydn’s Orlando Paladino, Vivaldi’s L’Olimpiade, and Rossini’s Armida, L’equivoco stravagante and Maometto secondo.
Performances take place every June and July in the spectacular Opera Pavilion, which sits within the rolling landscape of the Chiltern Hills.
Champagne Deutz already supplies Champagne for the Royal Shakespeare Company, having announced a deal with the theatre company last year. Deutz also announced a three-year partnership with the Court of Master Sommeliers in March 2015.
Last month the drinks business reported that Champagne Deutz enjoyed sales figures in 2015. The company’s core brand achieved sales of 2.1 million bottles – up from 576,000 20 years ago.
Deutz said that increased marketing resources were among the reasons for its recent growth.
Total sales revenue for the Delas/Deutz Group was €54m (£42m) last year – a 10% increase on 2014.
