Beer on the horizon for Manning
“Lots” of beer rather than retirement was foremost on quarterback Peyton Manning’s mind after his Super Bowl win.
Manning became the oldest man to both play in and win a Super Bowl last night after his Denver Broncos beat the Carolina Panthers 24-10.
With age and old injuries clearly impeding his performance of late, rumours that Manning will retire soon, particularly after one last Super Bowl win are rife but the only question about his immediate future involved getting his hands on a beer – or two.
“I’m going to drink a lot of Budweiser tonight,” Manning admitted after the game to CBS’s Tracy Wolfson – after kissing his wife and children he added.
The victory was against the odds, with Carolina the pre-game favourites but readers of the drinks business will know that in beer-terms Colorado was always the favourite.
