Duck & Waffle launches ‘anti resolution’ cocktails
Duck & Waffle in the Heron Tower has launched a duel cocktail menu for January offering “anti resolution” cocktails made with foie gras and truffles alongside five virtuous non-alcoholic cocktails.
Created by the restaurant’s head mixologist Rich Woods, the double menu will run side-by-side throughout January, simultaneously catering to those struggling through Dry January and those who are strictly anti abstinence.
Among the decadent ingredients used in the anti resolution cocktails, priced at £14 each, are bone marrow, oysters, salted caramel, foie gras, maple syrup, chocolate and black truffles.
The “as good as it gets” non-alcoholic selection meanwhile, features healthy ingredients like coriander, pineapple, butternut squash and clemetines.
While the menu is tongue in cheek, Woods has put equal time and effort into the £7.50 virgin cocktails, which, he hopes, taste as good as their punchier counterparts only without the alcohol.

Bulletproof Old Fashioned
Replacing Bourbon with Tequila, this naughty twist on an Old Fashioned is made with butter washed Patrón, distilled coffee bitters and salted maple. Served in a tumbler with a giant ice ball, the rich concoction makes for a divine digestif.
Butternut Squash & Clementine Bellini
For those off the sauce, this lightly carbonated non-alcoholic version of Venetian classic the Bellini is made with butternut squash, fresh clementines and Prosecco sugar, allowing you the celebratory feeling without the sore head.
Filthy Martini
Perhaps the most complex cocktail on Woods’ new list, this savoury Martini twist is made with Grey Goose vodka, Bombay Sapphire gin, Noilly Prat vermouth, Branston pickle and whole grain mustard. The ingredients slow-dripped through crushed oyster shells and served over an oyster.
Exported Americano
Capitalising on the trend for cold brew coffee, this lightly sparkling virtuous version of an American classic features coriander, distilled pineapple, maple and Chartreuse sugar. Served long with ice, it’s as complex as a normal cocktail with none of the units.
Foie Gras and Salted Caramel Manhattan
Combining two of db’s favourite things in the world – foie gras and salted caramel – this sweet and savoury take on a Manhattan is made with Jack Daniel’s, a vermouth blend, salted caramel, maple and a foie gras infusion. It sounds like our idea of heaven.
Mind Your Peas & Qs
A virgin version of one of Rich Woods’ enduring classics, this veggie-focused drink is made with a seedlip non-alcoholic spirit, a sugar snap pea infusion and tonic. Ideal as a refreshing apéritif, it will also leave you with a clear head in the morning.
Truffled Negroni
Possibly the most decadent of the indulgent cocktails on the list, this twist on the Italian classic features dark chocolate washed Bombay Sapphire gin, a vermouth blend, amaro, distilled chocolate, and, for the final flourish, a black truffle infusion. Perfect for those who like their cocktails bittersweet.
Roasted Cosmo
Not for the faint hearted, this take on Carry Bradshaw’s favourite cocktail includes a bone marrow infusion, which is blended with Grey Goose Le Citron vodka, orange liqueur, rosemary hydrofoil, cranberry and cacao in a mash up of sweet, savoury and citrus flavours.
