Chapoutier buys Provençal property

Maison Michel Chapoutier has acquired rosé producer Château des Ferrages in Provence.

The deal is the latest in a string of acquisitions by the well-known Rhône producer and gives the company a dedicated rosé producer to rank alongside its Beaujolais, Champagne, Alsatian and even Australian interests.

Château des Ferrages is a 30 hectare property in the Sainte-Victoire region of Provence, between Aix-en-Provence and Saint-Maximin, and produces Côtes-de-Provence and Côtes-de-Provence Saint-Victoire wines.

With production 90% dedicated to rosé (it makes a small amount of red and white too), the 1,000 m2 winery can handle up to 3,500 hectolitres and has a dedicated bottling and labeling line.

The estate already exports to countries in five continents including; Australia, China, Taiwan, Japan, the UK, US, the Low Countries, Czech Republic, Guadeloupe, Martinique, Gabon and Cameroon.
