Badet Clément completes trio of acquisitions

Burgundian negociant Badet Clément has completed its third vineyard acquisition of 2015 in the Languedoc with the purchase of Domaine du Trésor, situated in the village of Ouveillan in the Aude.

The the start of 2015 Badet Clément purchased the Languedoc-based Monze Cave Cooperative in April, making it a larger player in the French region. Strengthening its foothold further, in September the producer purchased the 25-hectare Domaine de la Métairie d’Alon. The company ended the year with the acquisition of Domaine du Trésor in the village of Ouveillan in the Aude, to the north of Narbonne.

“Over the last few years, we’ve studied many opportunities to buy vineyards with the aim of reinforcing our production needs and this one meets all of our necessary requirements”, said Laurent Delaunay, owner of Badet Clément.

Domaine du Trésor comprises 94 hectares of vines, of which Badet Clément has bought 60, classed as IGP Pays d’Oc. The other 34 hectares will continue to be run by Philippe and Corinne Gayraud, whose family has been one of Badet Clément’s partner growers for several years.

“I was very happy to end 2015, which marks the 20th anniversary of our group, with the acquisition of a vineyard like Domaine du Trésor”, added Delaunay. “We’ve known the Gayraud family for several years and we share the same philosophy, which will really help the integration of the Domaine into our activities.”

Badet Clément was founded in 1995 by Laurent and Catherine Delaunay, two wine makers from Burgundy, and has since become one of the biggest players in the Languedoc-Roussillon with the help of its core IGP Pays d’Oc brand Les Jamelles.
