Sherry bar launches e-commerce site
Cardiff Sherry and tapas specialist Bar 44 has launched an e-commerce site offering Spanish beers, Sherries and artisan foods.
The award-winning Welsh bar and restaurant, which has sites in Penarth, Cowbridge and Cardiff, has launched the online shop with a selection of 11 gift boxes intended to harness the Christmas trade but said it intends to add a range of Spanish store cupboard essentials next year.
In addition to offering dispatch within 24 hour and trackable delivery, Bar 44 has also rolled out a click & collect for local shoppers.
The selection includes a 5L keg of Bar 44’s own brand beer, Toro Blanco Spanish pale ale, which is brewed for the bar by the Glamorgan Brewing Company, a Spanish beer lovers selection, a sherry lovers selection, red and white wine selections, a case of cava and a Beronia Rioja Classic Range Wooden Gift Box, as well as pantry and Spansh snack selections.
Co-owner Tom Morgan, said the move was an extension of its “healthy trade” in take-home produce from our delis and came of the back of its festive gift boxes, which had tripled in trade over the last three years. “It showcases the very best produce available from our Spanish suppliers and hand-picked ‘hero’ products for our customers to enjoy,” he said.
The company, which was set up in 2002 by Tom and his brother Owen Morgan, opened its new Cardiff bar in June this year which serves three different kinds of sherries direct from 225L barrels, Andalucian-style.
Owen Morgan is one of the few UK holders of the Official Certified Sherry Educators qualification, an intensive course from The Consejo Regulador D.O Jerez – the regulatory body of the Jerez Sherry region.
