Top Burgundy headlines at Acker’s Asia sale
Acker, Merrall & Condit’s final Asia auction will feature its “largest collection of Burgundy during 2015” consisting of over 400 lots.
The New York auction house is gearing itself up for the last sale for this year, which will take place on Saturday, 12 December at the Grand Hyatt’s Grissini restaurant.
John Kapon, Acker’s president has promised bidders that the auction will include, “remarkable series of the world’s most famous domaines, châteaux and winemakers” and highlighted four collections in particular: a 21-bottle vertical of Romanée-Conti, a 19-bottle vertical of famed Salon Le Mesnil, a 21-vintage vertical of Masseto and a 31-bottle vertical of Sassicaia.”
Kapon said: “It is a great honor to represent this collection, which is one of the world’s most important. It’s Christmas time, and what better way to reward yourself than with a superlot or two of one of the world’s greatest wines?”
White Burgundy kicks off the sale with several lots of Coche-Dury, DRC, Leflaive, Boillot, Drouhin, Bouchard, Jadot and Raveneau (lots 1-99), and then follows the reds (381-554) with 21 lots of Rousseau beginning with 1976 and spanning the classic vintages of 1993, 1996, 1999, 2002, 2005, 2009 and 2010.
There are also 14 lots of Dujac with a six magnum lot of 1985 Clos St. Denis and 10 lots of DRC, 11 of Leroy, eight of Comte Liger-Belair, eight too from Ponsot and six from Meo-Camuzet.
