Lord Mayor’s fine wine sale raises £19k
A fine wine auction held as part of the Lord Mayor’s appeal has raised close to £20,000 for charity.
Handled by Liv-ex, the sale saw 11 lots of wine ranging from mature Bordeaux and Burgundy to Rhône, offered by generous donors.
In all, the sale raised £19,851. Former lord mayor, Alan Yarrow, who’s appeal it was commented: “I am enormously grateful to the many generous wine collectors who have given up valuable cases of fine wine to be auctioned for the benefit of the Lord Mayor’s Appeal 2014/15.
“I am also indebted to Liv-ex, ‘The Fine Wine Market’, for providing their logistical support and for making their trading platform available for this unique wine auction.”
The principal charities to benefit from the appeal were Scope and Mencap, while the Royal Ballet School, the City & Guilds of London Art School and the Royal Academy of Arts will also benefit.
