Graves charity wine auction raises €10k

A charity wine auction held by the Crus Classés de Graves has raised €10,000 for victims of the Paris attacks.

The auction, organized by iDealwine, saw all 14 members donate a double magnum and around 300 bidders from 20 countries including France, the UK, Sweden and Hong Kong took part.

The top bid was €3,002 for the bottle of 2011 Haut-Brion and the double magnum of 2011 La Mission Haut-Brion made €1,574. The oldest lot on offer, the 1989 from Château de Fieuzal made €402.

All proceeds went to victims of the November 13 attacks in Paris through charity body, Fondation de France.

This year’s Hospices de Beaune auction also saw the ‘pièce des présidents’ sold for the same cause. It made €480,000, smashing all previous records as did the sale overall.
