Changyu buys first Bordeaux estate
Chinese wine producer Changyu has acquired its first Bordeaux property, while the Labrune family has bought a château in Fronsac.
Changyu has announced the purchase of 90% of Bordeaux Supérieur estate Château Mirefleurs from the Castel Group for €3.3 million.
It is the first time China’s leading wine producer has bought a wine property in France although it owns the Cognac producer Roullet-Fransac.
Meanwhile, the Labrune family has announced it is taking over Château de la Dauphine in Fronsac (pictured) from the Halley family.
The 40 hectare property, which is managed biodynamically, produces around 200,000 bottles a year and is recognised as one of the leading estates in the Libourne region.
Stéphanie Barousse, commercial director at the property, has been appointed deputy CEO.
Castel is not the first French group to divest itself of a Bordeaux property recently. Crédit Agricole Grands Crus sold Sauternes château Rayne Vigneau to Trésor du Patrimoine last month.
