The week in pictures: Hong Kong
Heat and humidity still reign in Hong Kong, and so the db HK team this week sought shelter in the form of a Chateau Ksara feast and a South African braai.
“A slice of London” comes to Hong Kong in the form of the inaugural Best of British event running throughout November. Team db HK had fun trying “traditional fish & chips” and holing up in the pop-up pub, the Crown and Anchor.
Ignore the skyscrapers in the background and the iridescent blue sky and you could almost be in Clapham…
Invited along by the Wines Society of Macau and Chateau Ksara importer, Red Mill, team db HK ferried over to Macau for a night of the unforgettable 1986 and 1995 vintages and some roast goat. Each red vintage spends 12 months in oak and 12 months in bottle before release.
A stunning view of the Macau Tower from the Chateau Ksara restaurant, where braver souls dare each other to bungee jump off.
Another meat-heavy feast but this time HK-side with a South African theme. A traditional braai with piles of sausages and lashings of wine held at the Ladies Recreation Club and hosted by importers, Northeast.
A crowd-pleasing sparkler to kick off the evening by biodynamic Stellenbosch producer, Villiera.
Before speaking with Corney & Barrow’s general manager, Thibault Mathieu, team db HK had a quick sample of this gorgeous 2012 Saffron Fields Pinot Noir from Williamette Valley, Oregon.
