Hakkasan announces expansion
The Hakkasan restaurant group has announced it is to open five new venues in Asia-Pacific and the US.
Next year will see the group open three of its restaurants in Indonesia; the flagships ‘Hakkasan’ and ‘Sake no Hana’ as well as ‘Omnia’.
Meanwhile, new branches of ‘Yauatcha’ will open in Houston and Honolulu. The announcement follows recent openings in Shanghai. Los Angeles and London and the group now operates over 50 venues around the world.
Nick McCabe, president of the Hakkasan Group, said: “As Hakkasan Group’s first venture into South East Asia and Yauatcha’s into the US, these developments mark a milestone for the group and speak to our wider business strategy of moving into high growth markets.
“There is significant potential for Hakkasan Group across the entire Pacific Rim and as a result, we are planning aggressive expansion within the region, which will be achieved via our existing portfolio of brands, as well as further diversification through strategic acquisitions and new brand launches.”
“As the first step in South East Asia, Jakarta presents a fantastic opportunity due to its increasing importance as a luxury destination and the large amount of Indonesian tourism to Las Vegas, which has led to locals being familiar with some of the Hakkasan Group brands.”
“In the US, Houston and Honolulu, with their diverse populations and tastes, are perfect homes for Yauatcha, which we believe can add a product and service offering to the market that doesn’t currently exist”.
