GoT strongman breaks keg toss record
The record for the greatest height a beer keg has been thrown was broken last weekend by Game of Thrones actor, Hafthor Bjornsson.
The Icelandic strongman and actor threw a 33-pound (14.9 kilo) beer keg over 23 feet (7 metres) into the air at the World’s Strongest Man Qualifying Tour in Sweden on Saturday.
The mighty effort (which you can see here) broke the previous record which was also held by Bjornsson who shrugged off the feat boasting: “It was easy! I could have broken the roof.
“It was amazing to do this in front of the great crowd. Bring on Europe’s Strongest Man.”
Standing six foot nine and weighing 400lbs, Bjornsson has a string of strength records to his name, including carrying a 32-foot, 1,433lb (649kg) log for five steps –a record supposedly set by the Viking Orm Storolfson 1,000 years ago.
Fans of the fantasy HBO series Game of Thrones will recognise Bjornsson as the villainous Gregor Clegane, also known as (somewhat accurately) ‘The Mountain’.
