Fever-Tree ‘considering’ UK launch for its premium cola

Fever-Tree is mulling whether to bring its up-market cola to the UK.

The company soft-launched a premium cola into the Spanish market two years ago as a trial but at the time said it had no plans to launch the product in the UK.

Fever-Tree’s co-founder Tim Warrillow, who told the drinks business it has been working with Diageo’s premium dark spirits in Spain, said the UK was “a consideration”.

“It is gaining the interest of other markets and we are plotting where we will put it, although there are no dates or fixed decisions,” he said.

Warrillow added that the brand wanted to focus on its existing fast-growing range in the UK.

The cola mixer was developed to complement whisky and rum, and contains roasted marley, herbal extracts, spices and essential oils including lemon, lime Creole Mexico, green ginger, Madagascar vanilla, and cassia.

Sales of the company’s upmarket mixers’ have been strong over the last year and yesterday it significantly upped its profit expectations on the back of earlier than anticipated distribution gains.
