CA sells off Sauternes property
Crédit Agricole has divested itself of first growth Sauternes estate Château Rayne Vigneau to a specialist wine group.
The sale of the 84 hectare estate to French wine group Trésor du Patrimoine was announced last week although the transaction details were not revealed.
CA’s wine arm, CA Grands Crus, will however retain a small stake in the estate which it originally purchased in 2004. Trésor du Patrimoine already owns Vignobles Lalande-Moreau in Saint Emilion and France’s largest mail-order foie gras business, Traditions du Périgord.
Despite selling off the majority of its concern in Sauternes, CA Grands Crus also recently announced it had acquired the entirety of Margaux property Château La Tour de Mons which it had partially owned since 2012. It will now join a portfolio that includes Grand Puy Ducasse in Pauillac and Château Meyney in Saint Estephe.
