Bompas & Parr turn Shard into winter wonderland
Food and drink alchemists Bompas & Parr have turned the 72nd floor of The Shard into a winter wonderland complete with mulled Champagne.
Running until 31 January, The View from The Shard will be turned into The Height of Winter, an “enchanting, sensory winter experience”.
Among the festive design features are giant crystals, gem-studded snow dunes, glowing crystal benches, a touch-responsive iridescent grotto and plants that sing Christmas carols.
Guests will also be able to indulge in mulled Champagne, “Snow White” hot chocolate and Christmas candy floss flavoured with orange, cinnamon and clove.
In a bid to create a romantic atmosphere, Bompas & Parr collaborated with perfumers, composers, psychologists, and neuroscientists on the project. Nostalgic scents will be pumped through the air and visitors will walk through a specially designed soundscape by Dom James to “provoke feelings of romance”.
“We’re delighted to unveil The Shard as the most romantic place in the world. By combining adventure, risk and of course crystals we ‘ve created an installation where everyone can dream and connect with each other against the romantic canvas of winter wonder,” said Sam Bompas of the project.
Tickets for The Height of Winter are priced from £25.95 per adult.
