Skalli sells St. Supéry Estate to Chanel
Languedoc-based producer Skalli has sold its Napa Valley winery St. Supéry Estate to fashion house Chanel for an undisclosed sum.
“I am delighted to hand over St. Supery to such a well regarded company that understands luxury brands and will continue to enhance this special property,” Robert Skalli said in a statement.
“I’m confident that they will continue my vision of a Napa Valley Château, crafting world class wines, and will build on that foundation, ever improving quality,” he added.
Skalli began his Napa Valley wine venture in 1982 with 620 hectares of vineyard land, snapping up an additional 20 hectares in Rutherford three years later where he built the sustainably farmed St. Supéry.
The sale of the estate, which specialises in Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon, will be completed later this month. There are no significant changes in operations or management anticipated.
While based in the Languedoc, the Skalli family owns estates in Provence, the Rhône and Corsica. In addition to St. Supéry, Chanel owns Château Rauzan-Segla and Château Canon in Bordeaux.
