Le Clos offers ‘one-of-a-kind’ Chapoutier collection

Luxury wine and spirits retailer Le Clos is offering a “one-of-a-kind” collection of Chapoutier wines having been named an exclusive partner of the Rhône producer.

For the first time in its history, Chapoutier is offering a collection that includes six methuselahs (6 litre bottles) of the 2010 vintage – historically one of the best vintage ever in the Rhône Valley.

The Chapoutier Ermitage Methuselah 2010 Collection – the only collection of its kind available in the world – will include single vineyard wines Le Pavillon red, De L’Orée white, Le Méal red and white, and L’Ermite red and white.

To launch this unique collection Michel Chapoutier and Le Clos, based at Dubai International Airport, hosted a private masterclass on 26 October to showcase the 2010 vintage, during which Chapoutier provided an insight into three of the top Chapoutier back vintages: Le Pavillon red 1990, De L’Orée 1997 and L’Ermite red 2003.

“The Chapoutier Ermitage Methuselah 2010 Collection is one that we hold very close to our hearts, and it was a natural choice to select Le Clos for the global launch of this one-of-a-kind collection”, said winemaker Michel Chapoutier, noting the retailer’s established reputation for bringing rare and unique products to market.

A champion of single vineyard expressions from Hermitage in the Rhône Chapoutier achieved critical acclaim for his 2010 vintage wines, with this collection containing five wines that received 100 point scores from wine critic Robert Parker.

“It is an honour and a pleasure to be chosen as Chapoutier’s retailer of choice to launch this exquisite collection,” said Marek Sheridan, managing director of Le Clos. “We have a long-standing relationship with Chapoutier, and are keen to bring this unique offering to wine lovers around the world.”

The collection is currently under silent auction until 1 November with a reserve price of 90,000 AED ($24,500), with the collection set to go to the highest bidder.
