Mark Swistun is the joint owner of the Royal Oak pub in Penclawdd a quiet fishing village near Swansea.
Also a “wealthy shellfish factory owner” according to The Telegraph, Swistun and his business partner invested in the pub last year.
This July Swistun and his friends were drinking in the pub but staff refused to serve him after last orders at 11pm.
Swistun reportedly left the pub only to return at 1am driving a “huge yellow digger” causing £40,000 of damage to the extension, crushing outdoor tables and scattering bricks and roof tiles in all directions.
He was arrested on the scene but South Wales Police recently admitted that as he part-owns the pub there are no grounds for criminal damage.
‘We would have needed someone to make an official complaint about the damage he caused,” said a police source.
“No one came forward to do that.”
