Trivento celebrates centenarian vines
Bodega Trivento, currently the UK’s biggest-selling Argentine wine brand, is launching the latest vintage of its premium Eolo wine, the vines for which have their 100th birthday this year.
The Eolo vineyard by the Mendoza river in Luján de Cuyo was first planted in 1912, and thus the Eolo 2012 Malbec is the product of century-old vines.
Eolo has seen “unprecedented sales growth” recently according to Trivento, which was the biggest-selling Argentine wine brand in the UK in the year to 20 June, according to ICI data.
Eolo brand manager Ed Gauntlett said that the UK wine drinker is becoming better acquainted with Malbec “at all its different quality levels.”
He said: “Sales of Eolo are up 60% this year versus last, showing the overall growing passion for Malbec is running right up the quality ladder. We’re very excited to show this unique vintage and help build the reputation of Malbec from Luján de Cuyo.”
Trivento will be showing Eolo alongside the rest of its portfolio on table 37 at the inaugural Mercado Andino event in London on 9 – 10 September.
