Fresh after returning from holiday, team db HK was lucky enough to try wines from Syria’s sole winery, meet Yangarra’s Peter Fraser and discover the stylish and fruit-forward wines of Corsica.
The CEO of Leopard’s Leap, Hein Koegelenburg was in town to host a tasting of Franschoek’s favourites, Leopard’s Leap and sister estate, La Motte wines at Brick Lane in Admiralty.
From the Leopard’s Leap and La Motte tasting, a particular favourite was the 2013 La Motte Northern Rhone-style blend of Shiraz and Viognier.
Next up was a lunch at Duddell’s courtesy of Cuvees and Sandro Saade of wineries Bargylus and Marsylas. Uniquely pairing the wines of Syria’s winery Bargylus and Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley Marsylas, the lunch was a lovely opportunity for the launch of the two wineries in Asia.

Australian winemaker of the year, Peter Fraser was in Hong Kong to launch his Yangarra wines to the Asia market with Sarment. At the Sarment office in Sheung Wan, team db HK went through his Roussanne, Grenache, Shiraz and GSM.
As a result of a brave venture of the Corsican Wine Board of Asia, Corsican wines have docked on the shores of Asia and are making waves throughout the region. Team db HK met the man behind the project, Vincent Cervoni who represents 15 winemakers from various Corsican regions.
Hong Kong fine wine merchants, Ginsberg & Chan recently held a Brunello tasting in its office in Central. Guests sipped their way through the 1995-2007 vintages of legendary labels including Poggio Antico, Le Chiuse Brunello di Montalcino and Gaja.
China’s Ningxia favourites, Grace Vineyards announced the launch of its sparkling wine Angelina available in three single varietal non-vintages of Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc and Chenin Blanc and vintage 2009 Brut Reserve Blanc de Blancs.
