Smirnoff Ice recall in Canada

Diageo Canada has issued a recall for numerous flavours in its Smirnoff Ice range over fears of glass contamination.

No injuries have been reported and the recall was issued voluntarily by Diageo Canada when the possibility of contamination was discovered last Friday.

It added it thought, “significantly less than 1% of the bottles are impacted”.

The full list of batch numbers that are being recalled can be read here, but it affects the flavours: Peach Bellini, Green Apple, Raspberry, Cranberry and Lime, Ice, Watermelon Mimosa, Orange Screwdriver, Ice Light and the “Life of the Party” pack.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has advised Canadians that find they have purchased potentially contaminated packs to either throw them out or return them to the store where they were purchased.

Smirnoff Ice sold in plastic bottles are not affected.
